2 days earlier than we planned, little charlotte monroe joined our family.
before she was born, when i would pray for her, the word 'joy' always came into my mind. little did i know that would be the perfect description for this precious baby.
from her first day of life, charlotte has been pure sweetness.
easy, happy.... the kind of baby parents dream of.
i cannot even believe she is one year old today. where has the time gone? i feel like she was just born. just swinging in her baby swing all swaddled up. just all curled up on her daddy's chest.
but now she is an easy-going, friendly little love, pulling up on the couch,
pushing her baby stroller, and waving her hands at everyone.
eating anything you put in front of her
i have treasured every second of these 365 days. knowing she was our last has caused me to frequently pause and just try to soak in the moment. hold her closer. smell the baby smell. listen to her sounds. feel my finger inside her little grasp.
little charlotte, we were a great little family of 4.
but we had no idea how incomplete we were without you.
we adore you.
we promise to protect you
pray for you
encourage you
and love you with everything we are.
happy birthday, baby girl.
thank you for filling our family with joy.

ReplyDeleteI've said a lot of things like this before, so I'm just going to redact all previous statements of this nature - that picture of Jeff with the girls is literally the cutest thing I've ever seen. Ryan is sad you posted it because he could actually hear my uterus screaming through my flesh and bones.
I am in love with the train tracks picture :)
