the pray book

from 2008-2009, i was in one of the best life groups of my life.  my moms & more group at the well was made up of some of the most amazing women, and topped off with the greatest mentor mom ever.  though our group ended that may, we continue to get together from time to time.  i absolutely treasure my time with these women.... they encourage me, challenge me, and just love on me.

at our last get-together, we tried something new and got crafty!  my super fabulous friend, jr, suggested making prayer books for our kids using christmas card photos.  i had no idea what a huge hit it would be in our home.

i just bought a photo album on the clearance rack at target.  some of the ladies made gorgeous books with pretty papers.  i went for more of a kid look on mine....
just added felt dots and some sparkly letters with lots of hot glue

i organized the book into family, friends, and people in our community.  i started by just writing the names on 4x6 cards, but i am way too OCD and had to print them out so the fonts were consistent.  i feel better.
someone had the idea to add our kiddos schools, church, neighbors, etc into the book.
i love having them learn to pray for each other
throughout the day, i find them looking through the book and choosing who they want to pray for.  they absolutely love looking at the pictures.  i love that they are constantly thinking about their friends and family- especially those that live far away

time to pray!  (this is what they like to do to 'close their eyes')
bella's prayer today is simple, but i don't think God minds.  "dear Jesus.  thank you for today.  thank you for asher and amalya.  we love you Jesus name.  amen "

i had no idea what a success this would be.  i love that my children are thinking beyond themselves.  i love that they are learning to pray for others and not just their "wish list".  i love that they are remembering the special people in their lives on a daily basis. but mostly, i  just love hearing their sweet voices talking to Jesus.

  4. Wowie!!! I LOVE this idea. Now that Jonah is getting old enough to begin understanding such things, this would be a really awesome resource.
