i officially love rockharbor.
i knew i really liked it before,
but now.... i love it.
the people are wonderful, yes.
the building is cool, right?
and they make really good coffee, sure.
but obviously that isn't what makes a church amazing.
what makes this place special is the hearts of the people
and their desire to serve, follow, and seek christ wholeheartedly.
this is a special week at rockharbor.
it is called seek week.
they have designated an entire week to pray, worship, and fast in order to pursue God.
last night was their 'leadership conference'.
for all the well folks out there.. it was basically 'state of the church'.
the leaders of the church got to hear about where the church has been, and where we are going.
it was so encouraging to hear the hearts of the people
and the mission of this church.
but what i really, really love is....
it didn't stop there.
they realize that we can have all the great plans in the world,
but if God isn't in it....
it will go nowhere.
so tuesday-friday they have provided opportunities
pretty much around the clock
for prayer
worship
and fasting.
early morning prayer gatherings,
daily staff chapel,
evening worship services,
24-hour prayer sign-ups.
everyone praying for the church.
for rockharbor to be right in the center of His will.
for His direction, guidance, and provision.
i officially love this place.
on sunday, they called the congregation to take part in this week.
but it went beyond seeking after Him just for rockharbor.
it was a call to seek him personally.
i heard it.
something that has been hard as a stay-at-home mom is to figure out what quiet times look like.
do i get up extra early?
late at night?
let's be honest....
i'm usually exhausted at night, and really don't want to get up any earlier than i have to.
but i know i need that time.
my mom's & more mentor mom, patty,
(maybe one of the wisest women i've ever met)
said something that has always stuck with me.
she told us how important it is for our children to see us reading our bibles,
and to know that is special, sacred to us.
how can we expect our kids to think reading the bible is important if they never see us do it?
with that, i decided awhile ago that my quiet times needed to be seen by my kids.
but let's be honest.... me reading my bible with them just watching means i don't actually read my bible.
so i decided to create a 'bible time' basket for them.
it is a basket full of kid bibles, story books, and bible dvds.
(many of which i got at the dollar tree- woot woot!)
the kids love their special bible time.
jackson is quite the little reader, and bella loves to listen.
'bible time' is only 20 minutes...
but i enjoy every minute of it.
i love getting time in the Word
and watching my children grow in their knowledge of God.
i am excited about seek week at rockharbor.
i can't wait to see what God does this year through this church that we now call home.
and i want this family to seek after Him,
not just this week,
but every day.
so encouraging!
